Combine embroidery and applique to create colourful and textured embroideries. This class is an introduction and will get you started in this type of embroidery. We will cover materials, suitable embroidery threads and commomly used stitches and techniques. You will make a needle book using this kit by Sue Spargo and finish it into a needlebook, to keep your needles neatly organised. Materials will be available to make the inside, including the ribbon tape labels.
Our full day class is at the John Knox Centre and includes lunch.

General embroidery tools: - small sharp scissors, - Needles: selection of chenille, crewel, beading and milliners
Threads of your choice to go with the kit - you can purchase as you go, so do not stress too much about that!
Materials to finish into needlebook
Felted wool or felt: 2 sheets or one piece for outside ( finished book measures approximately 82cm x 18cm) 2 sheets for inside and one sheet of felt to cut up into pieces for needle pages
Cotton fabric for binding: 10cm
Printed ribbon tags (we can do them for you)
20cm of very stiff interfacing - we used Fast to Fuse.
